We hired a car for Los Angeles and Hawaii. In Los Angeles there were only 3 operators and a long line. The reception was, however, cool. Although I booked an 8 Seater Minivan A/C-Dodge Ram or similar, I was offered a 7 Seater Minivan A/C-Dodge Caravan or similar. I was asked to pay extra for the 8 seater. After some polite discussion the operator said he would take up the difference with the agency and gave us the 8 seater as booked. It was the term minivan on my booking that gave rise to the discrepency. But all ended well. In Honolulu there were several booking desks all over the airport and the counter we chose at the car lot was very quick indeed. As I was unable to book an 8 seater for Honolulu through usrentacar I enquired about an upgrade to an 8 seater. It was an extra $50 a day. I don’t think they prebook them because they dont have very many of them. We didnt take up the offer as we would have had to pay an extra $650 for our stay. However when we found our car on the lot is was only a 5 seater which for 6 of us was not very useful. They were very apologetic and then realised that they didnt have any 7 Seater Minivan A/C-Dodge Caravan or similar available for us. So we got an 8 seater van for an extra $20 a day. Which made life easier for us and our luggage and a reasonable cost. Usrentacar just need to change the wording of a 7 seater minivan or an 8 seater van to ensure there isnt confusion with the car companies. Overall we were quite happy with everything.
