Assistance from Alamo staff was very poor upon collection of the vehicle. We requested a child seat and were simply pointed to a pile of child seats in the car park and told to help ourselves. There were only two available of the correct size for our child – one of them had part of the strap for fixing to the car cut off and the other was so badly damaged it looked like it had been dragged down teh road underneath a car and was not fit to be used. When I asked for assistance in fitting the seat I was told that they couldn’t help, they weren’t allowed because they weren’t trained and one member of staff said "quite frankly none of us have children so we wouldn’t have a clue anyway." I was told that they all had instruction manuals with them and I should consult that for how to install the seat. One of the seats I tried didn’t have an instructino manual, the other had an instruction manual for a different seat. Eventually when I went back to the office for a second time they told me someone would fetch some more seats up for us, which eventually happened and I was able to find one that wasn’t damaged and did have the correct instruction manual. However, I found the attitude of the staff dismissive and in-appropriate for a matter of my childs safety with a product they were renting to me. Finally, the car I hired was a hybrid and so does not start ion the same manner as a normal vehicle. There was not instructino manual in the vehicle, no additional information given on how to start the vehicle and because no member of staff came with us to the vehicle, no one to ask without having to again return to the office. All in all a very disappointing level of customer service.
