The Budget agent tried to pass off a vehicle which did not even meet Budget’s compact car spec as an intermediate car. She also ignored the free upgrade coupon and the inclusion of the free tank of fuel, and prepared the contract on the basis of a charge for fuel used at $6.99 per gallon. We then had a further 45 minutes to wait until the vehicle was delivered. It had no central locking, no power windows or mirrors, no alarm system and no cover for the back of the vehicle. No insurance details were provided. I found out later that it is illegal to drive a vehicle in USA without insurance details. The only way we managed to avoid paying twice for fuel was by printing out another of the prepaid voucher from USrentacar’s website and presenting it on return of the vehicle.
