Although we were very happy with the staff at the location, we weren’t happy with what Budget the commpany did. We made the booking and the one we chose came up that we were eligible for a free up grade – great. The staff member commented on that too when we collectd the car. When we then returned it, we noticed on the acknowledgement slip that it stated a charge of $163.71. When we queried it, we were told it was for an upgrade, we explained that it was free, as it stated on my booking form I had with me, and the lady told us we had been upgraded by 2 grades, therefore there was a charge for it! Nowhere did it say anything about a charge for upgrading like that. The lady did try to refund the amount back onto our card, but ended up charging us a second time, she then says that the charge had been removed off our account, but we are unsure whether it really has and need to check with our credit card people whether it has or not. I think Budget were simply trying it on and were hoping that we wouldn’t notice in the rush to drop the car off and get checked in, by then, back in the UK when we did notice, we would have been too late to sort it out. I think it was a totally misleading piece of sales gimmick/con and we will never use them again. We noticed it, how many other people haven’t?
