Budget – Miami Airport Location
We have found their agents to be rude and untrustworthy. They told us a Dodge Calibre was an Intermediate car, even though it didn’t even have central locking or electric windows. We eventually changed it at Fort Myers airport, where they confirmed the Calibre was a Compact vehicle, changed it out for a nice clean full size vehicle and apologised for the behaviour of the Miami staff.
Alamo – Miami Airport Location
Agents are too pushy, including telling us that our insurance did not cover breakdowns.
Avis – Miami Airport
Warning – We recently picked up our rental car the morning after arrival, having decided not to risk driving in Miami iin the night and following a few drinks on the flight. The agent changed our booking, without informing us, and told us it was covered by our voucher. On return to UK, we found that we had been charged an additional £91 by AVIS. On querying, we were told that our booking was changed as we did not collect the vehicle on the first day of our rental, but that they would refer the matter to the rental depot and revert. I also queried this with British Airways (who we had booked the car with) and they processed a credit for the additional charge, stating the additional charge was wrong. Avis never reverted, despite leaving messages asking for a call back. We have collected vehicles the next day from other rental car companies and never experienced this problem before.
